EMDR: Trauma Therapy Powertool. Ben Franklin Summit for Clinical Excellence.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful and effective therapy for treating trauma-based problems. This revolutionary therapy has helped thousands of people recover from such traumas as war, accidents, assaults, disasters and childhood abuse. In addition to the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, EMDR is also used to treat the psychological effects of smaller traumas that manifest as symptoms of depression, anxiety, phobias, low self-esteem, creativity blocks and relationship difficulties. There are more controlled research studies on EMDR for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder than any other therapy-most with positive results. Dr. Parnell will describe EMDR’s discovery and development, EMDR’s theoretical model, the structure of an EMDR processing session, and present cases from her books. A brief question and answer session will conclude the presentation. http://www.bfisummit.com/chicago-illnois-2010.html

Attachment-focused EMDR: Healing Relational Trauma
R Cassidy Seminars, Los Angeles, California

Attachment-Focused EMDR Healing Relational Trauma
Laurel Parnell PhD is an EMDR trainer and practitioner who has found, over the course of 19 years using EMDR, that treating trauma, especially relational trauma, requires a more inclusive therapeutic approach than EMDR alone. Dr. Parnell believes attachment theory and practice to be an extremely helpful adjunct in successfully treating a wide range of childhood and adult wounds. Clients treated successfully with this integrated model include those with a history of; childhood physical or sexual abuse, neglect, early parent loss, birth trauma, medical trauma, vicarious trauma, and attachment disorders. This workshop offers a guide for integrating the principles and techniques of EMDR treatment with an attachment model. The resulting treatment is a highly successful approach to treating relational trauma using a relationship- based therapy that adds “heart and soul” to EMDR. This workshop will spark your own creativity in both treating trauma and the use of EMDR in your practice.
